Steve Clarke's Frustration with SFA Decisions

Frustrated Steve Clarke expressed his bewilderment over the Scottish Football Association's (SFA) choice of landing spot in Portugal just before their crucial match. After a series of unfortunate events, including a baggage mishap at Glasgow Airport, Clarke's team faced a two-hour delay, landing at 9 PM on the eve of the Nations League game.

The situation was compounded by their arrival at a military airport, located approximately 100 miles from Lisbon, which added unnecessary hours to their already grueling journey. During the delayed UEFA press conference, Clarke was questioned about the decision-making process that led to this predicament. He candidly remarked, "I thought we were landing in Spain! To be honest, I can't understand it. It's something we have to review after this trip."

Despite the challenges, Clarke remains focused on the upcoming game, stating, "I've got to focus now on the game coming up. It's a quick turnaround, but we've got a good group of players. They'll turn up tomorrow, don’t worry."

The only downside, he noted, was that while he was left starving, his players would be having their dinner at the hotel, likely a couple of hours later than usual due to the travel delays.
