Subtropical Storm Patty Approaching
The National Hurricane Center has named a subtropical storm approaching the Azores archipelago as Patty. While the storm's effects will not be directly felt in mainland Portugal, it is expected to bring rain.
In a statement released this Saturday, the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) reported that the storm is located approximately 675 km west/northwest of the Azores, moving east/southeast at 11 km/h.
The IPMA further clarified that the anticipated precipitation on the mainland this Monday is due to a moderate to strong frontal wave and is not directly related to the storm.
However, as the depression evolves, it will lose its subtropical characteristics, with its remnants expected to approach the mainland by Tuesday, the 5th, around 12:00 PM.
Rain is forecasted for Minho from Monday afternoon until late Tuesday afternoon.
Note: This news was updated at 7:15 PM with a new statement from the IPMA.
