TAP Air Portugal is set to expand its destination network in the United States with two new direct routes: Lisbon–Los Angeles and Porto–Boston. These routes will significantly enhance travel options for passengers flying from Portugal to the USA.
Lisbon to Los Angeles
Starting on May 16, 2025, the Lisbon to Los Angeles route will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays until May 26. From then on, a fourth weekly flight will be added on Saturdays, running until October 25. Flights will depart from Lisbon at 09:55, arriving in Los Angeles at 14:40, for a total travel time of 12 hours and 45 minutes. The return flight leaves Los Angeles at 16:40, landing back in Lisbon at 12:00 the next day, after a 11-hour and 20-minute journey. This route will be serviced by Airbus A330-900 aircraft, accommodating 298 passengers, with round-trip fares starting at €679.
Porto to Boston
The new Porto to Boston route will commence on May 14, 2025, operating four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, also until October 25. Flights will leave Porto at 18:05, arriving in Boston at 20:30, with a flight duration of 7 hours and 25 minutes. The return trip from Boston will depart at 23:00, reaching Porto at 10:35 the following day, after 6 hours and 35 minutes in the air. This route will be operated using Airbus A321-Long Range aircraft, which hold 168 passengers, with round-trip tickets starting at €529.
New Stopover in the Azores
In addition to these new routes, TAP announced that starting June 3, 2025, one of the weekly flights between Lisbon and San Francisco will have a stopover in Terceira Island, Azores. This change will provide a direct link between the Azores and California, catering to the needs of the large Azorean community residing in the region.
Currently, TAP connects Lisbon to seven destinations in the United States, including New York, Newark, Boston, Miami, Washington DC, San Francisco, and Chicago. From Porto, the airline already operates flights to Newark.
