Shergili Farjiani, a 40-year-old Georgian national, has been recaptured in Italy after escaping from the Vale dos Judeus prison on September 7. This marks the third fugitive apprehended by authorities following his escape.
The capture was made possible by the Polícia Judiciária in collaboration with Italian authorities. Farjiani has a lengthy criminal record, including violent theft and document forgery. A European arrest warrant had been issued against him by the competent judicial authority.
According to the PJ, the success in capturing Shergili Farjiani was the result of persistent, complex, and continuous investigative work.
So far, two other fugitives, both Portuguese nationals, have been recaptured: Fábio Loureiro and Fernando Ribeiro Ferreira. However, two fugitives remain at large: Rodolf José Lohrmann, an Argentine citizen, and Mark Cameron Roscaleer from the UK.
These fugitives were sentenced to prison terms ranging from seven to twenty-five years for serious offenses such as drug trafficking, criminal association, robbery, kidnapping, and money laundering.
