A tragic accident occurred this Wednesday on the Itinerário Principal (IP4) near Vila Real, resulting in the death of a 78-year-old woman. According to sources from the GNR, the incident was caused by a vehicle traveling against traffic in an area with central dividers.

The accident involved three vehicles and resulted in a head-on collision. Emergency services reported that two individuals were seriously injured and required extrication from their vehicles.
Traffic Disruption
Due to the accident, traffic is currently blocked on the IP4 heading from Vila Real to Bragança, specifically between the Hospital and Flores junctions.

The alert was raised at 07:27, with the accident occurring at kilometer 96. Approximately 20 rescue personnel and six vehicles from the Cruz Branca and Cruz Verde fire brigades, as well as the INEM and GNR, were dispatched to the scene.
