Shocking Incident in Porto

A 22-year-old university student was found dead on public streets in Porto this Saturday, igniting an investigation by the police. The discovery was made by a woman who alerted the authorities after spotting the body on Travessa da Carvalhosa, in the Cedofeita neighborhood.

According to the Porto Metropolitan Command of the PSP, the body exhibited signs of violence, prompting the involvement of the Judicial Police. The student, who resided at the Ventura Terra residence of the University of Porto, was found barefoot between 8:00 and 8:20 AM.

Investigation Underway

The circumstances surrounding the student's death remain unclear. An official from the Judicial Police stated that there are currently no indications of third-party involvement in the student’s death. The body has been taken to the Institute of Legal Medicine for an autopsy, with authorities emphasizing that there are no signs of assault by another person.

University Response

In a statement released Saturday afternoon, the University of Porto expressed its profound sorrow over the student's passing and announced that a psychological support team is on-site to assist students and staff at the residence throughout the weekend.

Furthermore, the university plans to implement an extensive psychological support plan for the student’s friends, colleagues, and family, ensuring access to specialized services for anyone in the academic community needing assistance.

Out of respect for the privacy of the deceased's family and friends, the University of Porto has decided not to disclose further details regarding the student's identity.
