Remembering Laura Carlos

Laura Carlos, a prominent figure in the Algarve Film Commission and known for her cultural contributions in Faro, has sadly passed away on January 11th at the age of 43.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Laura moved to Faro where she graduated in Design from the University of Algarve. She later earned a master's degree in Cultural Management, focusing her thesis on cultural manifestations over time, particularly the Festa da Pinha.

Laura was instrumental in promoting the Festa da Pinha, spearheading its nomination for the 7 Wonders of Popular Culture in 2020 and working towards its recognition as Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Since 2021, she served as a member of the Assembly of the Union of Parishes of Faro, contributing actively to various cultural associations and enhancing the film industry in the Algarve.

She was also a regular participant in the Tertúlia Farense, a cultural gathering that has expressed deep sorrow over her passing.

In honor of her memory, the local municipality will lower the flag to half-mast. Details regarding her funeral services are yet to be announced.
