Parliamentary Leaders to Meet
The conference of parliamentary leaders is scheduled for Tuesday at 10:30 AM at the Assembly of the Republic. Due to it being Carnival Tuesday, deputies unable to attend in person can join remotely.
Censure Motion Details
According to the Assembly's Regulations, the debate will commence on the third parliamentary day following the submission of the censure motion, which the PCP presented on Sunday.
The motion, titled “Stop National Degradation, for an Alternative Policy of Progress and Development”, is expected to be rejected, as PS Secretary-General Pedro Nuno Santos has already stated he will not support it.
Context of the Motion
The PCP decided to move forward with this censure motion after Prime Minister Luís Montenegro made a statement to the nation on Saturday night. He indicated that he would consider a confidence motion in the government if opposition parties did not clarify whether they believe the executive can continue to execute its program.
Montenegro's statement followed reports about Spinumviva, previously owned by his wife and children, which receives a monthly fee of €4,500 from the Solverde group.
