Missing Surfer in Thailand

The Portuguese government is closely monitoring the situation of Daniel 'JoJo Mariani' dos Santos, a former national bodyboarding champion, who has been missing in Thailand for nearly two weeks. An official source from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MNE) confirmed this news to the Lusa agency.

Government Support

The MNE is coordinating efforts through the Portuguese Embassy in Thailand and is in contact with the family of the missing citizen.

"The Embassy is following the situation and is in contact with the family," the source stated.

Family's Plea for Help

Daniel's wife has been using Facebook to raise awareness and seek assistance regarding her husband's disappearance. Recently, she posted in a national bodyboarding group to mobilize the Portuguese bodyboarding community and apply pressure for better cooperation from authorities.

"JoJo has been missing on Koh Phangan Island, where we live and raise our two children, Ocean, 8, and Sky, 2. He has been gone for nearly two weeks under mysterious circumstances," she wrote.

The family is particularly concerned that Daniel may have gone out to sea and not returned. His belongings, including his passport, wallet, and plane ticket, were found under a tree days after his disappearance.

"The Thai police are not providing much help -- we need to apply pressure," she urged.
