Xutos & Pontapés Coming to Lisbon

Xutos & Pontapés, the iconic Portuguese rock band, will perform in Lisbon on February 22, 2025, as part of their tour 'Olá, Vida Malvada!' celebrating 45 years of their music career. This announcement was made on Monday, highlighting the band's commitment to bringing their celebrated tour to the capital after it previously toured the country without stopping in Lisbon.

The MEO Arena will host the concert, which promises to be an exciting event, similar to their performance in Porto on September 14. The opening acts for the show will be Conjunto!Evite and Meu General.

Tickets for the concert are currently on sale, priced at 30 euros for standing and 35 euros for seating.

A Brief History

The band officially formed 45 years ago, on January 13, 1979, in Lisbon. Their first performance was a brief set of four songs, marking the beginning of a long and influential career. Initially called Delirium Tremens and later Beijinhos e Parabéns, the lineup included Zé Pedro, Kalú, Tim, and Zé Leonel, all influenced by the emerging punk rock scene.

Despite changes in the lineup over the years, including the departure of ZĂ© Leonel and the addition of JoĂŁo Cabeleira and Gui, the band has remained a staple in Portuguese rock music, boasting over a dozen albums and numerous hits that resonate with fans across generations.

Even after the passing of guitarist ZĂ© Pedro in 2017, the band continues to thrive, with Tim (vocals/bass), JoĂŁo Cabeleira (guitar), Gui (saxophone), and KalĂş (drums) keeping their legacy alive.

In 2019, they released a double album titled '40 Anos a Dar no Duro', featuring their most significant tracks in chronological order, starting with their first single 'SĂ©men' released in 1981.

Recent Honors

Last week, the members of Xutos & Pontapés were awarded the title of Commander of the Order of Liberty by President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa in a ceremony at Palácio de Belém. The honors were presented to Tim, Kalú, Gui, and João Cabeleira, with Zé Pedro's insignia handed to his widow, Cristina Avides Moreira.
