Twelve districts in mainland Portugal are currently under a yellow alert due to forecasts of heavy showers and thunderstorms, as reported by the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA). This warning is in effect today and Thursday, indicating potential risks for various activities.
In the districts of Faro, Beja, Porto, Santarém, Leiria, Aveiro, and Coimbra, the alert will be active from 12:00 PM today until 12:00 AM Thursday. Meanwhile, the districts of Viseu, Évora, Guarda, Castelo Branco, and Portalegre will also experience this alert from 12:00 PM today until 12:00 AM Thursday and again from 12:00 PM Thursday until 12:00 AM Friday.
The yellow alert is the least severe on a scale of three, issued when there is a risk for activities that depend on weather conditions.
