DGARTES has allocated support to 33 theatrical entities under the Biennial Sustained Support Program. This funding cycle includes support for six entities in Strategic Mediation Actions, 26 in Creation, and one in Training.
In the Algarve, three regional structures received backing: ACTA - A Companhia de Teatro do Algarve, Enlama - Associação Cultural (LAMA Teatro), and for the first time, JAT - Colectivo Janela Aberta Teatro - Associação Cultural.
ACTA and JAT applied for support in Strategic Mediation Actions, while LAMA Teatro's project “Alvoroço” was the sole recipient in Training.
The total financial allocation for this biennial cycle is €10,080,000 (€5,040,000 per year), with Algarve projects receiving €1,080,000 (€540,000 per year), representing 10% of the total funding.
According to DGARTES, the program aims to enhance the diversity and quality of theatrical offerings nationwide, promoting good practices, inclusion, and accessibility while improving the quality of life for communities and artistic professionals involved. The initiative also encourages participatory habits and values the educational dimension and innovative practices in the sector.
