The International J/70 Class Association has launched its first Corinthian European Championship in Cascais, Portugal, running from April 1 to April 6, 2025. This event has attracted 54 teams from 17 nations, showcasing the growing popularity of amateur racing in the J/70 class.
Conditions in Cascais Bay proved to be challenging with winds in the upper teens and significant swells. Nations represented include Australia, Brazil, China, Spain, and the USA, among others.
The competition is fierce, with the top three boats maintaining a tight race after three rounds. Renato Cunha Faria from Brazil currently leads with scores of 1, 4, 12, totaling 17 points—just one point ahead of two Spanish competitors, Javier Padron and Alejandro Perez Garcia-Duran.
