Gala Concert to Celebrate Portuguese Music
The Consulate General of Portugal in Boston is collaborating with the Bendada International Music Festival (BIMF) to host a special gala concert in Boston. This event, titled “Passion & Saudade: a night of French and Portuguese masterpieces for flute and piano,” is set for Thursday, Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Goethe-Institut Boston.
This concert is the brainchild of Inês Andrade and Edoardo Carpenedo, both accomplished pianists and alumni of Boston University. BIMF has been a vital platform for young musicians from Portugal and the United States, offering them world-class education and performance opportunities for nearly a decade.
The Consul General of Portugal, Tiago Araújo, expressed pride in supporting BIMF, which serves as a cultural bridge between the two sides of the Atlantic. The festival, originally a five-day summer event in the village of Bendada, has expanded to include year-round activities in various cities, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of both Portugal and France.
This concert will feature soulful pieces including César Franck’s Sonata in A Major and the world premiere of Eurico Carrapatoso’s Bachianas for flute and piano. Attendees can enjoy a reception featuring Portuguese wine and pastries after the concert. Admission is free, but registration is required to attend.
