Cleanup Efforts in Funchal
The streets of Funchal woke up on Tuesday, December 24th, looking fresh and clean after the lively Night Market celebrations.
The Department of Environment of the Municipal Chamber of Funchal mobilized 140 workers and 25 vehicles for the extensive cleanup operations that began at 6 AM and are expected to continue until 8 PM.
By 7 AM, the Dr. Fernão de Ornelas Street showed no signs of the previous night’s festivities. All the typical food and drink stalls that had filled the street were gone, and the usual post-party litter had been completely cleared away.
The busiest road in the Madeira capital will host a press conference organized by the municipality at 11 AM today to present the results of the cleanup operation following the Night Market event.
