Summary:

  • Jamila Madeira returns as head of the PS list for Faro in the 2025 elections.

  • Changes in 12 out of 22 candidates compared to previous elections.

  • New candidates include Andreia Sousa and Vítor Guerreiro.

  • The list represents local candidates from across the Algarve region.

Jamila Madeira Returns as PS Candidate

Jamila Madeira, the current deputy, will once again lead the Socialist Party (PS) list for the Faro district in the upcoming Legislative Elections on May 18. The National Political Commission of the PS approved all candidates for the early elections last night, featuring changes in 12 out of 22 list heads compared to the last elections.

Changes in the Algarve List

In the Algarve circle, the PS candidate list exclusively includes locals, representing municipalities across the region. The top three candidates remain unchanged from the 2022 elections: Jamila Madeira (Loulé), followed by current deputies Jorge Botelho (Tavira) and Luís Graça (Faro).

New Faces in the List

From the fourth position onward, notable changes emerge. Andreia Sousa (Portimão), president of the JS Algarve, takes the fourth spot, replacing Isabel Guerreiro, the former president of the Portimão Municipal Assembly.

Other new names include Vítor Guerreiro, the current mayor of São Brás de Alportel, who is concluding his third term, followed by Custódio Moreno (Olhão), Ana Cruz (Vila do Bispo), who is the president of Women Socialists of Algarve, David Heijselaar (Lagos), and Ana Almeida (Albufeira).
