Emanuel Câmara: The Right Candidate for a Critical Moment

João Pedro Vieira, the former Secretary-General of the Socialist Party (PS) in Madeira, expressed his support for Emanuel Câmara as the party's candidate for the Assembly of the Republic. In a recent social media post, he stated, "He is the right man for the most difficult hour."

A Critical Moment for PS Madeira

Vieira emphasized that the PS in Madeira is currently facing a "critical" situation following a significant defeat in the Regional Elections on March 23. He insists that the party needs "men capable of embracing missions greater than themselves." According to him, Emanuel Câmara is one of those individuals, and the "greater mission" at stake is the survival of the party itself.

Câmara’s Leadership Achievements

The Madeiran socialist pointed out that Emanuel Câmara is "the president of PS Madeira with the best set of results" in the party's history. He noted that Câmara took over leadership after the worst result ever in the Regional Elections of 2015 and handed over the party with its best results ever in 2019.

A Call to Action

"Only someone like him could call all socialists in Madeira back for a difficult fight, as he did in 2019—but this time to save the PS from a seemingly fatal destiny: complete political irrelevance in the region," Vieira stressed.

Vieira further remarked that Emanuel Câmara leads the PS list to the Assembly of the Republic because he "is the man who led a dream that now has little left: that of the PS changing Madeira."

Approval of Candidate List

The regional political commission of PS/Madeira approved, yesterday, by "large majority", the list of candidates for the national elections on May 18, which will be led by Emanuel Câmara, the current president of the municipality of Porto Moniz.
