### Important Dates and Details

From **February 19 to 24**, between **midnight and 6 AM**, the following limitations will be in effect:
- **Detour from the full lane of A2 North-South** to the collector lane, during the nights of **February 19 to 24**, between **10 PM and 6 AM**.
- The **25th April Bridge** will be closed in both directions on the morning of **February 25**, from **midnight to 7 AM**.

During this period, all traffic heading **South/North** will be diverted to Almada, prior to the **A2/IC20 interchange**.

## Algarve STP Becomes an Adherent Member of TecParques

The **Algarve STP** has been approved as an adherent member of **TecParques - the Portuguese Association of Science and Technology Parks**, strengthening the Algarve's presence in the national innovation and entrepreneurship landscape.

This decision was formalized on **February 18**, during the TecParques General Assembly held in **Aveiro**, where **Jessica Costa**, the executive director of Algarve STP, represented the association. TecParques aims to promote and enhance the Science and Technology Parks in Portugal, fostering connections between companies, universities, and national and international institutions, thereby boosting the country's technological and business development.

In addition to Algarve STP's membership, the region's representation in the technological parks ecosystem is further enhanced by the integration of **CRIA - Division of Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer** from the **University of Algarve** into the TecParques Board, represented by division head **Hugo Barros**.

According to **Paulo Santos**, the interim president of Algarve STP, the membership in TecParques signifies a "strategic step to reinforce the region's presence in the national science and technology ecosystem." ## Exploring Lisbon's Linguistic Landscape  
Let's delve into **Lisbon**, its words, and languages, while addressing a burning question: **why do we speak the way we do?** It's intriguing how certain ways of speaking from Lisbon can irk others across the country. But first, it's essential to recognize that **everyone has an accent**.  
Take a moment to consider how we pronounce names like **"Mem Martins"** or **"Benfica"**. These pronunciations are not universal across the nation or even throughout the history of the language. They reflect the **unique characteristics** of a specific area, including Lisbon.  
Accents can vary even within villages, and the ability to distinguish them depends on the listener's experience. Historically, different neighborhoods in Lisbon had their own distinct accents, which have evolved over time.  
Interestingly, the accent from Lisbon often irks those from other regions, yet it is widely adopted throughout the country. As someone who hails from **Peniche**, I’ve lived in Lisbon long enough for my speech to be identified as **Lisbon-accented** by others.  
### A Journey Through Time  
Let’s take a step back in time—imagine **Lisbon 50,000 years ago**. Humans already inhabited the area, and although languages were not written, they existed with their own **grammars and vocabularies**. These languages, which likely originated from Africa, spread across the world, including to Lisbon, once considered the **end of the world**.  
Fast forward to **5,000 years ago**, when written languages emerged in other regions. The languages spoken in Lisbon during ancient times remain largely a mystery. However, we do know that **Phoenician** was spoken here around **2,700 years ago**, as evidenced by archaeological findings.  
The arrival of the **Romans** transformed the linguistic landscape, introducing **Latin**. The locals learned Latin, adapting it while retaining elements of their original languages, leading to the emergence of a **Lisbon accent**.  
### The Evolution of Accents  
As history progressed, various waves of people brought new languages, including **Germanic tribes** and **Muslims**, who introduced **Arabic**. By **1025**, **Arabic** was spoken alongside a Latin dialect known as **Mozarabic**. The North of the Peninsula developed its versions of Latin, while Lisbon retained its unique characteristics.  
After the **12th century**, when **Dom Afonso Henriques** took Lisbon, the influx of settlers from the North further influenced the local dialect, blending with the existing **Mozarabic** and **Arabic** influences.  
### Modern-Day Linguistic Melting Pot  
Today, Lisbon is a vibrant tapestry of accents and dialects, with influences from across the globe. Words from **Africa**, **China**, and **America** have woven themselves into the fabric of Lisbon's speech. Even ancient words from **Latin** have traveled far, illustrating the **rich history** of language in this city.  
Ultimately, **Lisbon's accent** is a blend of influences from all over the world, making it a unique representation of both local and global culture.

The Minister of Cohesion and Territorial Affairs, **Castro Almeida**, recently sold his **25% stake** in the real estate company **Quantum 98**. This sale occurred on **February 13**, following the controversy that led to the resignation of **Hernâni Dias** from the government. Almeida stated he wanted to "**cut the problem at its root**" and prevent any association with the new **Land Law**.

Almeida, who has been involved in the real estate sector for over **25 years**, emphasized that the decision to sell was made in **late January** to avoid public misconceptions about the benefits of owning a real estate company in light of the new legislation. He asserted that the **law applies equally to real estate companies and to any citizen**.

### Legal Transparency

The minister reassured that he has **always declared** his business interests to the **Constitutional Court** and has now disclosed his company to the **Transparency Entity**. He described the situation as “**clear, nothing hidden, everything legal**.”

However, documents revealed by RTP indicate that the sale was finalized **15 days** after Dias's resignation, raising questions about the timing. Almeida defended himself, stating that Dias's case was different as he had created two companies while in office, which could benefit from the new law.

### Background on the Case
In response to **RTP**, the **Inspectorate-General of Internal Administration (IGAI)** has confirmed that the preparation of the police report by the **Public Security Police (PSP)** is under investigation in a **separate inquiry**. So far, no disciplinary actions have been initiated, but the IGAI suggests that if they do occur, **precautionary measures** could be taken against the implicated officer, including **preventive suspension**.

### Details of the Investigation
The IGAI stated on Thursday that the **suspicions surrounding the police report** related to the death of **Cape Verdean citizen Odair Moniz**, who was shot by a PSP officer in **Amadora** last October, will be investigated in a "**separate inquiry**". The **Public Prosecutor's Office** suspects that this report may have been falsified by the PSP.

> **"An autonomous inquiry is underway to ascertain the facts related to the criminal investigation, particularly concerning the preparation of the police report,"** stated the IGAI.

The inquiry is still ongoing and remains confidential. During this period, **no penalties** are applied. However, if the inquiry leads to disciplinary proceedings, penalties could be enforced.
