Manuel António Correia's Demands for Internal Elections

Manuel António Correia has issued a statement this Sunday, renewing his call for an Extraordinary Congress and internal elections within the PSD-Madeira party, alleging irregularities in the signature validation process required to convene the event.

Signature Collection Controversy

In his statement, Correia revealed that 540 signatures from party members were collected within a few days during the Christmas period to support this request. He asserts that over 300 of these signatures were confirmed as having their dues paid, labeling the party's claims to the contrary as false.

Obstruction Allegations

However, Correia alleges that many members who wished to regularize their dues were prevented from doing so. According to him, the party has once again blocked these payments by closing the headquarters and failing to respond to emails and phone calls, with the intent of invalidating the signatures.

Demand for Transparency

The former government official criticized the lack of transparency in the process and called for a thorough review of the signatures. He expressed confidence that there are more than 300 valid signatures, insisting on clarity regarding why a significant number were disregarded.

Accusations Against Party Leadership

Correia also noted that from the outset, the party president, Miguel Albuquerque, assured that there would be no congress, while close associates indicated that the party's leadership would find ways to prevent the Congress from happening. He emphasized that such actions are unacceptable.

A Commitment to Action

The statement concludes with a promise: "We will not give up and demand that the TRUTH be transparently clarified, in defense of the party's credibility and honor of all involved!"
