Accusations Against the Regional President

Carlos Silva, the elected deputy from Porto Santo, has made serious allegations against the Regional President, stating that he is governing under the banner of lies and fear. During a recent statement, the president claimed that the construction of the Porto Santo Health Unit would come to a halt, which Silva vehemently disputes.

JPP's Strong Response

The political party Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP) has labeled the president's claims as a complete falsehood. Citing a popular proverb, they emphasized the ease of catching a liar, referring to Miguel Albuquerque's statements.

Assurance to the People

JPP reassures the population of Madeira, particularly those in Porto Santo, that the president is blatantly lying. They support their claims with official documents approved in the Regional Legislative Assembly (ALRAM). Silva explained that the Porto Santo Health Unit is part of a project co-financed under the Madeira 2030 Program, and construction is currently underway.

Financial Backing and Future Plans

Silva pointed out that the project has a multi-year budget and continued funding despite the region being without a budget for seven months due to political decisions made by the PSD and CDS parties. He confirmed that over 4 million euros are allocated for the project in the PIDDAR (Program for Investment in Regional Development).

He further noted that the project could continue with 7.9 million euros earmarked for 2025, urging the government to prioritize public interest over political survival.

Criticism of Leadership

Silva criticized the president, stating he has not acted as a trustworthy leader but rather as a prophet of doom. He stressed that the JPP feels a duty to clarify the situation with truth and precision, contrasting their approach with that of Miguel Albuquerque.

Recent Developments

Referencing the recent past, Silva reassured that the dire predictions made by the PSD and Albuquerque were unfounded, noting that public services continued to operate normally without any financial tragedies. He concluded by asserting that the construction of the Porto Santo Health Unit would only cease if the president chooses to perpetuate a climate of fear and incompetence.
