Sakata Lays the Foundation for Innovation in Almeria

Sakata Headquarters

Mr. Sakata emphasized the significance of these new headquarters for the company's future, stating, "The time has come for our company to take the next step and consolidate its position in the world's most dynamic seed sector thanks to the new headquarters. We are convinced that the building will become an innovation center and will facilitate collaboration between our teams, leading to important advances in the future."

The Japanese Ambassador highlighted Sakata's role in addressing global challenges such as population growth and climate change, expressing gratitude for the collaboration between Spain and Japan to boost European agriculture.

Sakata Construction

The construction is set to be completed by 2026, aiming to position Almeria as a crucial location for Sakata's business strategy. This region is recognized as one of the most important markets for the seed industry in Europe. The new facilities will focus on advancing technology in horticultural crops, particularly tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchinis, and melons.

Mayor Bonilla noted the significance of this project, stating, "Thanks to projects like Sakata's headquarters, this area has become one of the most important locations for agricultural knowledge and research worldwide. I am very proud that Sakata has chosen VĂcar to develop this project in AlmerĂa."

Sakata Ceremony

Javier Bernabéu, general manager of Sakata Seed Ibérica, reflected on the company's journey in Spain, marking the establishment of their research station in Almeria as a key milestone. He expressed hopes for the future through a symbolic 'time capsule' containing wishes from guests and employees, which will be placed in the foundation of the new headquarters.
