Incident Details
A 24-year-old man was arrested today in Lisbon on suspicion of robbing two gold chains and stabbing a tourist in the face with a broken bottle near the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara. The attack occurred around 2:25 AM on Rua das Taipas.
The victim was immediately transported to Hospital de São José with a deep facial cut and is currently awaiting surgery.
Law Enforcement Response
The PSP (Polícia de Segurança Pública) received descriptions of the suspect from three witnesses, one of whom preserved the weapon used in the attack. Following this, efforts were made to intercept the suspect, who was apprehended just minutes later in the Rossio area, still in possession of the stolen items.
According to the Lisbon Metropolitan Command, the suspect will be presented to the competent judicial authority for the first interrogation as a detained defendant.
