Arrest of a Drug Trafficker in Algarve
The Judiciary Police (PJ) announced the arrest of a man in Olhão, Faro district, suspected of airborne drug trafficking. The authorities seized approximately 13 kilograms of cannabis from the suspect.
In a statement, the PJ revealed that the arrested individual, a 38-year-old foreign national, was subject to a European arrest warrant.
The police specified that the drugs were received via postal services. If the narcotic substance had reached illicit distribution channels, it could have provided at least 5,250 individual doses.
The suspect is set to appear before the court for an initial judicial interrogation and to potentially face coercive measures. Investigations are being conducted by the National Unit for the Combat of Drug Trafficking under the supervision of the Lisbon Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP).
