  • Budget of five million euros to support energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Funding eligible for thermal insulation, climatic systems, and natural lighting solutions.

  • Support for broader projects focusing on water efficiency and installation of photovoltaic panels.

  • Emphasis on a just transition for citizens in energy poverty.

Algarve 2030 Program Opens Funding for Municipalities

The regional program Algarve 2030 has launched applications for municipalities to access 60% funding for investments in energy efficiency within the public housing sector. This initiative was announced by the Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) on Monday, March 10.

The public entity stated that the program has a budget of five million euros aimed at supporting energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The goal is to decrease energy intensity and enhance efficiency through a high-performance and low-carbon built environment.

CCDR Algarve emphasized that this effort will significantly contribute to the climate transition, improving energy efficiency and alleviating energy poverty in public housing owned by municipalities.

Eligible Actions for Funding

Public support can be utilized for various actions, including:

  • Thermal insulation of walls, roofs, floors, and glazing.
  • Installation of climatic systems for heating, cooling, and hot water.
  • Replacement of inefficient windows and doors with more efficient options.
  • Installation of ventilation systems and natural lighting solutions.

Additionally, funding is available for the installation of climatic systems (heating, cooling, or ventilation) and smart energy management systems. Projects that incorporate biomaterials, recycled materials, green roofs, and bioclimatic architecture solutions for buildings and autonomous units are also eligible.

If municipalities present a broader project, they can request assistance for interventions that focus on water efficiency, including the replacement of inefficient equipment and the installation of photovoltaic panels and other renewable energy production equipment.

CCDR Algarve stresses the urgent need to accelerate the ongoing energy transition globally, which requires a robust framework of measures aimed at citizens facing energy poverty to ensure a just transition.
