Pedro Ramos, the regional secretary of health, has accused Ricardo Sousa, president of the Regional Section of the Portuguese League Against Cancer (NR-LPCC), of **mixing health issues with political interests**. He pointed out the **protagonists** who visit various entities, public or private, to speak about medication shortages. “If there are 100 institutions, we will have 100 days reporting shortages, even when the medications are already allocated,” he rebutted.

Ramos expressed that his biggest concern in healthcare is **waste**. “Investment in medication does not worry me, as people need treatment. What worries me is the waste in medication.” Recent data revealed **26 tons of unused medications** in just a year and a half, with 17 tons in 2023 and an additional 9 tons in the first half of 2024.

In the summer of last year, law enforcement took action, arresting the network's leaders, who had been elusive and known for their violent tactics. By January of this year, **40 individuals** associated with the operation faced charges related to drug trafficking and organized crime, marking a significant crackdown on this pervasive issue in Lisbon.

For **Madeira**, the same frontal system affecting mainland Portugal is also approaching but will dissipate, resulting in increased cloudiness with minimal precipitation.

- **Mainland Portugal**: Generally **partly cloudy**, quickly becoming overcast from the coast to the interior, especially with **high clouds**, with some sunny intervals, particularly in the central and southern regions.
- **Temperature**: Little significant change expected, possibly a slight drop in minimums and a slight rise in maximums.
- **Winds**: Generally light winds blowing from the east at 10-20 km/h.
- **Sea Conditions**: Slightly rough seas with waves up to **3-4 meters** off the western coast, especially north of Cabo Carvoeiro, and up to **3 meters** further south.
- **Water Temperature**: Expected to remain between **14-16°C** on the western coast and **16-17°C** on the southern Algarve coast.

A recent national poll conducted by **Intercampus** reveals that **46.2%** of respondents believe **Carlos Moedas** is more competent than **Alexandra Leitão** to lead the **Lisbon City Council**. In stark contrast, only **27%** of those surveyed feel that the socialist candidate has the necessary skills to govern the largest city council in the country.  
  
In **Porto**, the poll shows a different trend, favoring **Manuel Pizarro**, the former Minister of Health, over the Social Democrat **Pedro Duarte**, who has yet to confirm his candidacy for the municipal elections.  
  
Although this poll sampled a national audience, it’s essential to note that insights regarding how **Lisbon** and **Porto** residents would vote should not be directly extrapolated. However, with **638 interviews** conducted, the findings suggest a higher likelihood of **Moedas** being re-elected as the president of the Lisbon council, while a victory for **Leitão** appears less probable in the upcoming autumn elections.  
  
In **Porto**, the dynamics shift, as **Manuel Pizarro** is viewed as the more competent candidate by **29%** of respondents, while **Pedro Duarte** garners support from **26%**.  
  
The poll also assessed who respondents believe will ultimately win the elections. Over **54%** anticipate that **Moedas** will be re-elected (with only **22%** favoring **Leitão**), while nearly **29%** believe **Pizarro** will come out on top, compared to **24.5%** for **Duarte**.
