Investigation into Chega Deputy

The Public Prosecutor's Office is currently probing allegations against Pedro Pessanha, a deputy from the Chega party, who is suspected of having violated a 15-year-old girl. This information was reported by the Jornal de Notícias.

In March 2023, the parents of the minor filed a complaint, and since then, the investigation has been under the jurisdiction of the Cascais Public Prosecutor's Office.

Pedro Pessanha, who also serves as the president of the Lisbon district of Chega, has denied the accusations, claiming to be the victim of a "cabal". He has reportedly filed two defamation complaints, although one has already been dismissed.

His lawyer asserts that Pessanha has never been officially notified regarding this allegation and believes that the complaint is intended to politically damage the deputy.
