Applications Now Open for the Grande Marcha de Lisboa 2025
On January 10th, the applications for the 2025 Grande Marcha de Lisboa competition were officially opened. This year's theme is the 'Soul of Lisbon', announced earlier this month as the focus for the Marchas Populares celebrations occurring between May and June.
The competition will conclude on February 21st, with the winners receiving a €5,500 cash prize. This initiative, organized by the Lisbon City Hall (CML) and EGEAC/Lisboa Cultura, celebrates over two decades of tradition, highlighting the literary and musical creativity of participants.
In 2025, the Grande Marcha de Lisboa will be judged by a panel including Maestro Jan Wierzba (music appreciation), singer-songwriter João Pedro Pais (lyric appreciation), and musician Renato Júnior (general appreciation). Submissions must be sent anonymously via registered mail to the EGEAC/Lisboa Cultura headquarters by the deadline.
For more details, participants can refer to the regulations available on the EGEAC/Lisboa Cultura website.
Last year's winning theme was 'O Tejo Afinal' by Flávio Gil and João Paulo Soares, chosen from 34 entries. The selected music drew inspiration from the Tagus River, reflecting the vibrant culture and traditions of Lisbon.
