Join the Celebration of Blues in Algarve

Blues a Sul – Associação de Blues do Algarve is welcoming 2025 with a free concert featuring the Little Orange Trio on January 11 at 21:30. The event will take place at the Auditório da Direção Regional do Algarve in Faro.

This performance also marks the 20th anniversary of the radio program BLUESmente Falando, a unique show dedicated to promoting the Blues genre in Portugal. Initially broadcast for one hour weekly, it has grown in popularity, leading to an increase in airtime to four hours each week due to listener demand. The show now airs every Tuesday from 22:00 to midnight, with a repeat on Monday mornings.

The program first aired at midnight on January 9, 2005, hosted by Hernâni Nascimento and João Godinho, who are recognized as the “Godfathers” of Blues in Portugal. Today, thanks to its online broadcast capability, BLUESmente Falando reaches audiences across the country and internationally, establishing itself as the only national radio program that dedicates four hours weekly to the Blues.

The show has received several nominations for awards, including the “Blues Behind The Scenes – Media”, recognizing excellence in promoting Blues music across Europe.
