During the entire month of April, Lisbon is set to come alive with the Festas de Abril, celebrating the Carnation Revolution and freedom through a vibrant cultural program. Concerts, exhibitions, theater, and a political festival will take center stage throughout the month.

Celebrating Carlos Paredes In honor of the centenary of Carlos Paredes, a renowned Portuguese guitar master, a special concert titled “Variações sobre Paredes” will take place on April 27 at 19:00 in Praça do Município.
Museu do Aljube A key destination during the Festas de Abril, the Museu do Aljube will host several important events:
- “Arquitetas da Liberdade” exhibition, open until the end of the month.
- “Antes de Ser Independência Foi Luta & Libertação” exhibition, available until the end of the year.
- A discussion titled “Anónimo de Abril” featuring Rogério Charraz, José Fialho Gouveia, João Afonso, and Joana Alegre.
- Documentaries on “Women and Resistance” and “Those Who Stayed (Around the World)”.
- Free entry on April 25, a national holiday.
Festival Política From April 24 to 26, the Festival Política will take over Cinema São Jorge with a mix of performances, discussions, exhibitions, and humor, focusing on the 50th anniversary of the Ongoing Revolutionary Process (PREC).
Other Activities Additional highlights include:
- Workshops for children at the Museu Bordalo Pinheiro.
- Dance performance “Cooperativa” from April 24 to 27 at Teatro do Bairro.
- A photographic exhibition by Kenton Thatcher, running from March 29 to April 26 at the National Society of Fine Arts.
