Explosion in Almada Leaves Six Injured
A serious explosion occurred today in a residential building located in the Caparica and Trafaria area of Almada, Setúbal district, resulting in six people suffering minor injuries. According to the sub-regional command of the Civil Protection in the Setúbal Peninsula, four individuals were transported to Hospital Garcia de Horta in Almada, while two others received assistance on-site.
The alert was raised at 5:30 PM regarding the explosion in a six-story building. Responding to the incident, a total of 23 operatives and eight emergency vehicles from the Trafaria, Almada, and Seixal Fire Departments, alongside the INEM and GNR, were dispatched to the scene.
As of now, the cause of the explosion remains unknown, but it has caused considerable damage to the building's structure. Fortunately, no fire was reported following the explosion. Authorities stated that the situation regarding the residents will be assessed following this incident.
