Famel's New Chapter in Guimarães

The iconic motorcycle company Famel, relaunched by Joel Sousa, has announced the establishment of an Advanced Development and Prototyping Center in Guimarães, marking a significant milestone in the brand's revival. This new facility aims to blend history, sustainability, and innovation, as Sousa emphasizes the ideal environment that Guimarães offers for growth.

Famel Development Center

Sousa stated, "As Famel enters this new phase, it marks a critical moment in the brand’s history. While we remain committed to honoring its legacy, our focus is on the future through innovation and sustainability."

The newly built center is undergoing renovations to cater to Famel's requirements. This hub will play a crucial role in reintroducing Famel to the market with an eco-friendly approach.

Famel's Vision

Financial Boost for Famel

This development follows a recent financing round that aims to rejuvenate the brand and launch a new electric model reminiscent of the legendary XF-17. The company plans to start delivering this new model in the spring of this year, having secured €2.45 million in funding from the Novus Fund, a collaboration between Magnify Capital Partners and Banco Português de Fomento.

New Models

Famel is set to release two new models, Café Racer and Clássica, which pay homage to the original XF-17 while meeting the current demand for eco-friendly transportation. Sousa highlighted the commitment to using predominantly European components, with at least half produced in Portugal, and incorporating AI technology for personalization and connectivity.
