PSD Delegation Arrives at São Lourenço Palace
The PSD delegation, the party with the most votes from the electoral night on Sunday, arrived at the São Lourenço Palace at 9:30 AM for a meeting with the representative of the Republic for the region, Ireneu Barreto. The delegation included the party's secretary-general, José Prada, parliamentary leader Jaime Filipe Ramos, health and civil protection secretary Pedro Ramos, and party president and government leader Miguel Albuquerque. They aimed to present a stability solution for the upcoming four-year term, based on their electoral results, which saw the election of 23 deputies. They have already formalized a parliamentary and governmental agreement with the Social Democratic Centre.
Stability Solution Presented
In statements to the press, Miguel Albuquerque emphasized that he came to present this stability solution to the advisor judge. He indicated that his government is not closed off and that he is open to returning this afternoon to be appointed, noting that the timing depends on Ireneu Barreto.
Meeting with Political Forces
Throughout the morning and continuing into the afternoon, Ireneu Barreto is meeting with the six political parties that will have seats in the new Regional Legislative Assembly, reflecting the will of over 142,000 voters who participated in the elections last Sunday, March 23.
Albuquerque confirmed, "We communicated to the representative that the PSD is ready and capable of forming a stable government. We submitted the agreements signed by our party, PSD-Madeira, and CDS, both in the parliamentary and governmental framework. At this moment, we have all the conditions to ensure what was the decision of the Madeirans and Porto-Santenses: the necessity for a stable government capable of governing for four years."
Additionally, the presence of Pedro Ramos, the health and civil protection secretary, this morning may indicate his continued role in the Regional Government.
