Ongoing Strikes Impacting National Airports
Two strikes are currently affecting services at national airports in Portugal. Workers from SPdH/Menzies (formerly Groundforce) initiated a strike that began at midnight on Sunday, set to last until midnight on December 26.
The strike by Menzies employees involves two hours of work stoppage at the beginning or end of each shift. Workers are voicing their frustrations regarding salary issues and working conditions, including inadequate transportation at critical times and the requirement for employees to pay for parking when using their own vehicles.
Additionally, another strike is set to join the protest, involving workers from Portway in the handling sector. This protest will commence at midnight on December 24 and extend to midnight on January 1, 2025.
ANA Airports has already issued warnings regarding potential disruptions during the Christmas and New Year periods.
