According to a notice from the Portuguese Nurses Union (SEP), the strike will impact nurses working in primary health care at Local Health Units (ULS) including Santa Maria, São José, Lisboa Ocidental, Loures-Odivelas, Estuário do Tejo, Amadora/Sintra, and the Oeste South Health Center Group.
The strike will take place from 08:00 to 24:00 on March 20th. However, the notice assures that minimum essential services will be provided to meet "immediate social needs".
In addition to overdue payments, the striking nurses aim to demand the completion of competitions for the positions of Manager Nurse and Specialist Nurse, the fair and legal allocation of points, the implementation of the "career accelerator," hiring of additional professionals, and increased investment in primary health care to strengthen the National Health Service.
