Odivelas Metro Station Reopens

The Odivelas station of the Lisbon Metro has reopened to the public this Sunday at 06:30 AM, following its closure due to heavy and sudden rain on Saturday. The circulation on the Yellow Line (Odivelas - Rato) has also been resumed, as announced by the Lisbon Metro.

In a statement released today, the company informed that entry to the station is now via the upper hall, but noted that one access point to the upper hall and the connection from the bus interface to the lower hall will be temporarily closed for repair work.

The reopening occurred after the conditions were verified and restored to ensure the station can operate safely. The Odivelas station had been closed since 2:22 PM on Saturday due to the intense rainfall, which caused a significant amount of water to enter the station.

According to the company, the closure was necessitated by the heavy and sudden rain experienced on April 12 in Odivelas and surrounding areas of greater Lisbon, which led to nearby streets flooding and debris entering the station.

The Lisbon Metro commended the efforts of its teams, firefighters, and other authorities involved in restoring public transport services at Odivelas. Additionally, the sub-regional command of Greater Lisbon Civil Protection reported approximately 120 incidents between 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM on Saturday due to the intense rainfall affecting the municipalities of Loures and Odivelas.
