Resumed Search Operations
The search for a 16-year-old boy who went missing on Tuesday evening at Dragão Vermelho beach, Costa da Caparica, has resumed on Wednesday morning. The National Maritime Authority has confirmed that the operations are currently underway.
Coordination of Rescue Efforts
According to a statement, the search is being coordinated by the Captain of the Port and the Local Commander of the Maritime Police of Lisbon. Involved in the maritime search are:
- Crews from the Lisbon Port Lifeguard Station and the Cascais Lifeguard Station.
- Members of the Cacilhas Volunteer Firefighters.
- The NRP Tejo ship from the Portuguese Navy.
On land, the search team includes personnel from the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Lisbon, supported by a drone and resources from the “Praia Protegida” program of the Almada Municipality.
Additional Support from Air Force
A Portuguese Air Force aircraft is also expected to assist in the search efforts.
Previous Incidents
In related incidents, another young individual managed to exit the water on their own, while a third was rescued by lifeguards from the “Praia Protegida” project. The rescued individual was found unconscious and has been transported to the hospital for further care.
