The Algarve region will be under a yellow warning starting from 9:00 AM on Monday, January 27, due to forecasts of persistent rain, as announced by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA). This alert will remain in effect until 3:00 PM. The rain is expected to be sometimes heavy and may be accompanied by thunderstorms.

Weather Alert

In addition to the rain, the Algarve will also face a yellow warning for wind, effective from midnight until 6:00 PM on Monday. Gusts are anticipated to reach 70 to 80 kilometers per hour, particularly in the Barlavento area.

The most serious warning concerns maritime agitation, with forecasts of waves from the west measuring 5 to 6 meters in significant height, and maximum heights potentially reaching 11 meters. As a result, the Algarve will be under an orange warning from 6:00 AM on Monday until 6:00 PM on Tuesday, January 28.

This weather system is the result of the passage of Depression Herminia, which is expected to affect the entire country at different intensities, starting this Sunday.
