Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Expands to Iberia
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has announced an exciting plan to introduce its budget brand, Super 8, to Spain and Portugal. With approximately 2,000 hotels worldwide, Super 8 is one of the largest budget hotel brands globally, predominantly found in North America and China. Currently, Europe hosts only a handful of these properties, mainly in Germany and the UK.
A Bold Expansion Plan
The group aims to open 40 Super 8 hotels across the Iberian Peninsula over the next ten years, partnering with Soliteight Hotel Projects SA. The first hotel is scheduled to debut in Leiria, Portugal, with a planned opening in the fourth quarter of 2027.
These new hotels will be strategically located in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities, focusing on high-traffic areas such as airports and busy retail districts. Wyndham emphasizes that many of these hotels will be new constructions, designed with smart modular systems to ensure efficiency and sustainability, aligning with the Super 8 brand’s commitment to quality.
Strategic Insights from Wyndham Leadership
Dimitris Manikis, President of EMEA at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, commented on this strategic move, stating, “Bringing Super 8 to Spain and Portugal is a strategic move to make quality, affordable travel more accessible. Southern Europe has a growing demand for reliable, budget-friendly accommodations, and our collaboration with Soliteight allows us to meet that need.” He further highlighted the significance of introducing a trusted brand in key destinations, ensuring travelers can enjoy great value without sacrificing quality.
