Summary:

  • Miguel Albuquerque criticizes Montenegro's passive stance in the government crisis.

  • He warns against populism leading to potential dictatorships in Europe.

  • Albuquerque supports maintaining the confidence motion despite anticipated defeat.

  • New deputies will be elected following the dissolution of the Assembly.

  • Current representatives from PSD Madeira include key figures accompanying Albuquerque.

Miguel Albuquerque has made a striking declaration regarding the recent fall of the Portuguese Government, stating that “Montenegro could not continue to simmer on low heat.” He supports the Prime Minister's decision to maintain the confidence motion, despite knowing it would likely face defeat.

He emphasized the need to transfer this judgment to the Portuguese people, arguing that the situation would not be resolved if Montenegro withdrew the motion. Albuquerque expressed concern over past populism leading to “dictatorships in Europe,” attributing this trend to the Left Bloc and Ventura, whom he referred to as “the saints of the parish.”

With the dissolution of the Assembly of the Republic, a new list of deputies will emerge from the electoral circle of Madeira. However, Albuquerque mentioned that he has “not yet thought about this” and sees no reason for changes since they were elected just a year ago. Currently, the representation from PSD Madeira includes Pedro Coelho, Paula Margarido, and Paulo Neves, with the first two accompanying Albuquerque on the first day of BTL.
