Montenegro's Hidden Bank Accounts Revealed

The Prime Minister Luís Montenegro has disclosed to the Public Ministry at the Constitutional Court that he possesses three bank accounts. These accounts held €92,706 in 2023 and €65,511 in 2022.

In both years, the total balance of these accounts exceeded 50 national minimum wages (SMN), which legally required the Prime Minister to declare them to the Constitutional Court as stipulated by Law No. 52/2019 of July 31.

After being prompted for additional clarifications, Montenegro has now submitted the balances of these accounts to the Public Ministry. This revelation raises questions about transparency and accountability among public officials in Portugal.
