Overview of the Algarve Rally 2025

The Rali Casinos do Algarve, the second event in the Portuguese Rally Championship, has announced some significant updates for this year. As the rally evolves, it will no longer feature super special stages and will instead include City Stages in both Lagos and Portimão. The shakedown will now take place in Silves, while the first day will see two stages around Lagos, though they will differ from last year's.

Day Two Stages

On the second day, the stages will mirror those from last year, but with one stage run in reverse. Interestingly, the PowerStage will not be the longest stage, which last year was Messines at 24.10 km; instead, it will be one of the shorter stages this time around.

Competitor Adjustments

To combat the persistent dust issues that have plagued the event in the past, all competitors will now start in pairs, two minutes apart. This change comes after two years of challenges with dust, although last year saw improvements.

Historic Context

The rally will traverse areas that have previously hosted the World Rally Championship, with the exception of the Lagos stages. This event stands out from other dirt rallies in the championship, taking place in a region beloved by drivers. According to WRC competitors who participated in the Algarve between 2007 and 2014, the stages are considered exceptional for driving.
