Explora I

On April 14, the Lisbon Cruise Terminal hosted the Inaugural Scale Event of the EXPLORA I, marking its first stop in Lisbon. The event was attended by authorities, travel agents, and journalists, creating a buzz around this luxurious vessel.

The celebration kicked off with a welcome cocktail, followed by the Inaugural Ceremony featuring the traditional plaque exchange and a presentation of Explora Journeys at the Astern Lounge. Guests were then invited to explore the ship's main areas, concluding with a delightful onboard lunch.

The EXPLORA I, launched in October 2023 in New York, is the first ship from Explora Journeys, the luxury brand of the MSC Group. The ship was inaugurated with the presence of its godmother, Dr. Sylvia Earle, a renowned marine biologist and oceanographer.

With 461 suites, penthouses, and sea-view residences, the ship boasts six restaurants, 12 bars and lounges, four pools, and expansive outdoor decks featuring private cabanas. It is designed to evoke an “Ocean State of Mind”, blending elegant Swiss precision with modern European craftsmanship.

In terms of sustainability, all Explora Journeys ships are equipped with the latest environmental and maritime technologies, including selective catalytic reduction technology, shore connection capabilities, and underwater noise management systems to protect marine life. The onboard equipment is energy-efficient, optimizing engine use and further reducing emissions.
