About the Event

This event celebrates 60 years since the founding of the Grupo de Música Antiga de Lisboa, established by Duarte Lino Pimentel and Helena Lamas Pimentel. On December 24, 1964, they dazzled Portuguese television audiences with a concert featuring medieval and Renaissance music performed on historical instruments.

In honor of this milestone, a digital album will be launched, along with a print edition, showcasing the group's pioneering contributions to music in Portugal. This project is organized by MPMP Património Musical Vivo in collaboration with Antena 2 and musicologist Tiago Hora.

The Importance of Memory

The collection titled Memória reflects on the passage of time, capturing historical moments and cultural significance. It aims to preserve and revitalize essential historical records that shape the present and future of music in Portugal. Memory, as defined in the Dicionário Houaiss, is a vital faculty that allows us to retain and reflect upon our cultural heritage.

Join us in this engaging discussion about the interplay of memory, culture, and music, and how they influence our understanding of history.
