Portugal boasts one of the highest rates of female participation in the labor market within the European Union. According to a report from Pordata, revealed in conjunction with the International Women's Day, 84% of women aged 25 to 54 are employed, significantly surpassing the EU average of 77%. This impressive statistic places Portugal fourth among EU countries for the highest employment rates for women. In contrast, the percentage of women working part-time in Portugal stands at just 10%, compared to 28.5% across the EU. Notably, among women aged 25 to 34, nearly one in three holds a fixed-term contract.
