Young workers from various regions of Portugal gathered this Friday at Praça da Figueira in Lisbon, marching towards the Assembly of the Republic. The protest aimed to demand higher wages, fair working hours, and an end to job insecurity.
Under the slogan “For your salary, for your career, for a dignified life,” this national demonstration was organized by Interjovem, the youth organization of the CGTP, to commemorate the National Youth Day.
Starting at 3:15 PM, the event was attended by prominent figures such as Tiago Oliveira, Secretary-General of CGTP, and Gonçalo Paixão, Coordinator of Interjovem. Protesters chanted slogans like “It is fair, urgent, and necessary to raise salaries,” and expressed their frustrations with high living costs and the shame of job insecurity in Portugal. They carried placards with messages demanding dignified salaries for all, highlighting the struggle of youth facing housing issues.
