A New Culinary Destination in Lisbon

In an era where Portugal, and particularly Lisbon, is increasingly recognized on the European gastronomic map, a new spot has emerged that embraces classic concepts and uncomplicated cuisine. Welcome to Duro, a restaurant from the Attifood group, which has just opened its doors in Santos, Lisbon. This weekend, they are launching an event that epitomizes classic Portuguese dining.

Sunday Special: Cozido Ă  Portuguesa

Starting this Sunday, February 16, the lunch menu at Duro features cozido à portuguesa, an iconic dish from the national repertoire. Diners can enjoy this hearty meal with all the traditional accompaniments, including meats, greens, and delicious sausages. While it’s not a buffet, patrons can eat to their heart's content for a fixed price of €25, allowing for unlimited servings of the stew (note that this price is for the cozido only, excluding other dishes or drinks).

Other Tantalizing Offerings

During lunch, a variety of other dishes are also available, such as eggs with carabineiro (€45), red tuna carpaccio (€25), oven-baked sea bass and prawn rice (€60 for two), and chateaubriand (€70 for two), which is uniquely prepared wrapped in clay and ignited at the table.

Philosophy Behind Duro

"The name Duro reflects our vision for the space: to be consistent and demanding. We aim to revive classic dishes and their traditional presentation, focusing on quality without distractions," says Francisco Nobre, one of the partners, in an interview with MAGG.

A Refined Dining Experience

This new opening from the Attifood group, which also operates Descarado, Cervejaria Sem Vergonha, and the soon-to-open Cervejaria Malandra in the River Deck of Centro Vasco da Gama, is touted as their most refined establishment yet. "It’s our upscale offering, emphasizing high standards in cuisine, service, and the very location," Nobre adds.

Wine Selection

With a strong focus on wine, Duro offers a mix of classic selections and new producers, primarily from Portugal, including some island wines, while also featuring select foreign options.

Practical Information

Duro is open from Tuesday to Sunday with continuous service, offering the full menu throughout. The restaurant accommodates 70 seated guests and provides free private parking right in front—just call ahead when arriving to have the gate opened.
