What is Creche Feliz?

The Creche Feliz program offers free nursery services for children born on or after September 1, 2021, enrolled in various types of nurseries including public and private institutions.

Recent Changes in 2024

In 2024, the program's scope has expanded to include nurseries controlled by local authorities and other public entities. Additionally, from June 7, the criteria for verifying available spots now includes the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, broadening the options for families.

Who Can Benefit?

The program is available for:

• Children born before September 1, 2021, within the first two income brackets for family support.
• All children born after September 1, 2021, attending nurseries under the social solidarity network or private institutions participating in the program.

What Does the Program Cover?

Once accepted, the Social Security will cover all family contributions, including:

• Regular nursery services (nutrition, educational activities, etc.).
• Food, including special diets as prescribed.
• Enrollment processes and insurance.
• Extended hours and weekly extensions.

However, it does not cover extra optional activities (like music or sports), diapers, uniforms, or transportation services.

Choosing a Nursery

Families can select a nursery as long as there are free spots available. Access to private nurseries is limited if there are spots in the solidarity network.

How to Apply?

To apply for free nursery support, download the Creche Feliz APP:

1. Search for available spots in your area.
2. Visit nurseries with free spots.
3. Request a code from the selected nursery for enrollment.
4. Register in the app and submit your application.

Adhering Nurseries

You can find a list of participating nurseries in your area through the Creche Feliz APP.

Priority for Spots

Priority will be given based on social and economic assessments, including factors like previous nursery attendance, disabilities, and family circumstances.

What If No Free Spots Are Available?

If there are no available spots, families can fill out a interest form in the app.

Payment Structure

The Social Security pays nurseries directly, covering €473.80 per month per child.

Duration of the Program

Once a child is enrolled in a free spot, this is guaranteed for the next three school years at the same nursery.

How Can Nurseries Join the Program?

Nursery institutions can apply to join the program by filling out an electronic form on the Social Security website. After meeting the requirements, they will be notified of their inclusion in the program.
