Covilhã Signs Twin City Agreement with Shenzhen's Longhua District
The Portuguese city of Covilhã has officially signed a twin city agreement with Longhua district in the Shenzhen municipality, located in the neighboring Guangdong province. This significant cooperation arrangement, finalized on Wednesday, aims to bolster not only business ties but also to foster collaboration in culture and tourism.
Covilhã's Mayor Vítor Pereira expressed enthusiasm for this partnership, stating, “We are keen on having China as a privileged partner.” He highlighted the city’s aspirations to attract Chinese investments across various sectors, including health, trade, new technologies, textiles, agriculture, culture, and tourism.
In addition to this agreement, chambers of commerce from Covilhã and Macau recently signed a cooperation protocol aimed at promoting cross-investment. This agreement was established between the International Lusophone Markets Business Association of Macau and the Covilhã, Belmonte, and Penamacor Business Association.
