Assault on INEM Technician in Gondomar
The INEM Workers' Commission has condemned the assault on an emergency technician that occurred on Saturday night in Gondomar, calling it an intolerable act. They demand that the perpetrators be brought to justice and face appropriate consequences.
"The Workers' Commission considers this situation intolerable and demands that the aggressors be brought to justice and that due and severe consequences be applied," they stated.
The Commission emphasized that this incident is not an isolated case, but rather a continuing risk that healthcare workers face daily. They expressed their disbelief that those who dedicate their lives to saving others are repeatedly subjected to violence, disrespect, and threats.
"It is incomprehensible that those who dedicate their lives to saving others are repeatedly victims of violence, disrespect, and threats," they defended.
Moreover, the Commission stated that technicians cannot continue to risk their lives and health without proper recognition of the difficulties they endure in their caregiving environment. They stressed the urgent need for public, institutional, and governmental recognition of the risks these professionals face.
"Public, institutional, and governmental recognition of the risks faced by these professionals is urgent. Palliative measures are not acceptable in such situations, and this must be a commitment shared by all - authorities, institutions, and civil society," they added.
