Tragic Incident in Corroios: 39-Year-Old Man Killed with Hammer Attack

Shocking Attack in Corroios

A 39-year-old man tragically lost his life early Sunday morning after being assaulted with a hammer to the head in Bairro Quinta das Lagoas, located in Santa Marta de Corroios, Seixal. According to official sources from the PSP (Public Security Police), the suspect, a 27-year-old man, was apprehended on Rua do Rouxinol in Corroios.

The attack occurred around 01:57 AM, prompting an immediate response from emergency services. The Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) from Hospital Garcia de Orta in Almada was dispatched to the scene. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries while being transported in the ambulance provided by the Bombeiros Mistos do Seixal.

Investigation Underway

Following the incident, the suspect attempted to flee but was intercepted by the PSP. He was taken to the Criminal Investigation Department of the PSP in Seixal, where he was subsequently handed over to the Judicial Police for further investigation. A source from the District Command of Rescue Operations in Setúbal reported that 16 operatives with six vehicles from the Bombeiros Mistos do Seixal, INEM, and the PSP were present at the scene to assist.

The PSP is currently managing the situation, having reported the facts to the Public Ministry, while the Judicial Police continue their investigative efforts.
